Size & Print Guide
Size & Print Guide
At Arc & Line, we believe every garment should fit and look exactly as intended — from the smallest detail to the boldest graphic. Because we work across a range of sizes and silhouettes, we want to be fully transparent about how sizing and print placement can vary across our collections.

Understanding Size Variations
Our garments are crafted to fit a diverse range of body types. However, there are a few practical realities to keep in mind:
- Fit differences by style: Unisex tees are cut with a relaxed, straight silhouette, while women's tops and crop tops follow a more tailored fit. The same size label may feel different across styles — always refer to the measurements below.
- Fabric behaviour: Different fabric compositions (cotton, blends, jersey) have varying degrees of stretch and drape. A size M in a structured fabric will fit differently from a size M in a stretch jersey.
- Shrinkage allowance: Our garments are pre-washed where possible, but some natural shrinkage (1–3%) may occur after the first wash. We recommend cold washing and air drying to preserve fit and print quality.
- Measurement tolerance: Due to the nature of cut-and-sew manufacturing, a tolerance of ±1–2 cm is standard across all measurements.
Print Size Variations Across Garment Sizes
One of the most common questions we receive is: "Does the print scale with the garment size?" Here's what you need to know:
- Proportional scaling: For most of our collections, print dimensions are scaled proportionally across sizes — a larger garment carries a larger print. However, the degree of scaling is intentional and design-led, not always a 1:1 ratio.
- Fixed-size prints: Some graphic elements — particularly text, fine detail work, and logo marks — are kept at a fixed size across all garments to preserve legibility and design integrity. This means a small garment may appear to have a more dominant graphic, while a larger garment may have more breathing room around the print.
- Print placement: Chest prints, back graphics, and sleeve placements are anchored to specific reference points (e.g., 7 cm from the collar seam). As garment dimensions change, the visual relationship between the print and the garment edge will shift slightly.
- Crop tops & shorter silhouettes: On crop styles, print placement is adjusted to ensure the full graphic is visible within the shorter body length. In some cases, a simplified or cropped version of the graphic may be used.
- Hoodies & structured pieces: Pocket placement, zipper lines, and seams can affect print continuity. Prints on hoodies are designed to account for these interruptions, but slight misalignments at seams are inherent to the construction.
How to Choose Your Size
We recommend measuring yourself and comparing against the size chart for each specific product, as sizing can vary between collections and styles. When in doubt, size up — our relaxed fits are designed to wear comfortably with a little extra room.
How to Measure
- Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the ground.
- Waist: Measure around your natural waistline, just above the hip bone.
- Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
- Body Length: Measure from the top of your shoulder to your desired hem point.
A Note on Made-to-Order Production
Because Arc & Line operates on a made-to-order model, each piece is produced individually after your order is placed. This means minor variations in print placement and garment dimensions are a natural part of the handcrafted process — and a mark of authenticity, not a defect.
